On November 14, 1995 the very first General Meeting of the club was called to order at 7:30 pm in the Fraternal Hall of Qualicum Beach.
The election of officers was carried out and the name QUALICUM BEACH GARDEN CLUB was selected by a ballot vote. With the business of the meeting concluded the club welcomed its inaugural speaker, Larry Aguilar.
At the first Board Meeting a subcommittee was appointed to draft a Constitution & Bylaws for the club; and with a great deal of work and effort the document was presented at the next General Meeting and was approved.
With the club membership growing (120 members) it was agreed to move the General Meetings to St. Stephen’s Church hall.
In March of 1996 the Club voted to participate in the Historical Society beautification project, which was an obligation that continued for over a year.
By spring of 1997 the Club had grown to over 130 members and by the end of 1999 we had 163 members. The Club was growing quickly and by July 2003 we were nearing 200 members.
In 2004 the idea of forming Special Interest groups within the Club was developed. This has continued to be a very successful feature of the Club.
